Some 2024 Student achievements…
As the year comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting on the year that has just been and the many achievements of students. I always consider achievements to be relative and personal - what seems like it might be inconsequential for one student might be a huge achievement for another. With that in mind, there have been a number of highlights this year that I would like to acknowledge and celebrate.
AMEB Piano Results
AMEB exams are one way students and parents can have a feeling of success and progress. This year, four students completed AMEB exams in-person or by video submission, with exceptional results all round:
David - AMEB Piano Comprehensive 5th Grade - A Honours
Rachel - AMEB Piano For Leisure 2nd Grade - A Honours
Aditi - AMEB Piano For Leisure Repertoire Preliminary - A Honours
Advaith - AMEB P-Plate Piano 1 - Successful Completion
Music Teachers’ Association of NSW Junior Music Festival Results
The MTA of NSW holds Junior Music Festivals at different locations throughout the year. Sections are divided by difficulty level rather than age, and students receive useful feedback from adjudicators to help with their ongoing development. Four students participated in the Newcastle Junior Music Festival, performing in some very competitive sections.
Thomas - Second Place Novice Section with his piano performance of Swans On The Lake by Julie Knerr-Hague
Rachel - Third Place Elementary Section with her piano performance of Boogie Woogie Rock by Mike Springer
Victoria - Highly Commended Elementary Section with her vocal performance of Ruby by Kaiser Chiefs
Hadley - Participated in the Intermediate Section with a vocal performance of Almost There from The Princess and The Frog
Other Achievements
I am always incredibly proud to hear of students’ musical achievements outside of their lessons. Participation in school and community music also should be acknowledged and celebrated.
Victoria - 100% on Year 8 Music Assessment playing piano and singing People Help The People by Birdy
Hadley - Lead role of Princess Jasmine in What Theatre Company’s production of Aladdin Jr.
Congratulations to all students on their hard work and progress this year!
