Singing Lessons
Legatissimo offers one-on-one singing lessons in Newcastle/Wallsend for students from ages 5 and up, beginner through to advanced. Singing-focused early childhood music groups are also available.
What you will learn
Singing is a fantastic tool to learn music theory and develop aural and rhythmic skills in children and young people. For this reason,
Emphasis is also placed on developing sound and sustainable technique from the very first lesson. Rachel uses the Estill model as well as their training in young voices to teach singers of all ages how the voice works and how to use it to achieve the sound they want.
Students explore a range of repertoire, including pop & rock music, jazz, musical theatre, choral music and art songs/classical music. Students can focus on one particular style, or cross-train and explore multiple genres and styles. Students are encouraged to explore songwriting and improvisation as well as learning music from written notation.
Students have the option to participate in graded exams, performances, competitions and eisteddfods throughout the year. Rachel’s students regularly attain Distinctions and Credits in their exams.
Lessons incorporate a range of age-appropriate activities including playing games to reinforce theory concepts for younger students. Online resources and apps are used for reinforcement with older students.
